When it comes to my clients well I have got to say that positive thinking just does not work the way that my clients have used it, let me explain. The clients I see have issues along the line of depression, anxiety, anger, loneliness, low self esteem and other stuff no matter why they come see me for these make up the key components of their problem.

Recalling they came for an issue that is causing them a lot of discomfort. They’ll say things like, I am content, everything is good, my relationship is great. As they say these answers I am able to see they are lying not at a conscious level because consciously they kind of believe this, its like they’ve a split personality when they give positive answers this is thanks to the fact that that is what you should think and say from one viewpoint! While on the other hand simultaneously they know they’re unhappy, they are effectively in two minds. We all pick up on this all the time when some one tells us something and we don’t believe it, they are saying one thing consciously while at the same time they’re saying subconsciously thru body language something else. This is what I am picking up on when they are lying to me.

In this situation the positive thinking doesn’t work as it creates ambiguity! From one perspective the individual is sad and on the other they are saying they are not and it complicates the process of helping them. I need to know how they feel about their life, so I know exactly what we need to address so I’m able to help them but they on one had say they are depressed and then on the other answer all other questions as if they have no issues while at a unconscious level they are sending a totally different message.

Now what I suspect these people are doing is using the positive thinking in a way to try hiding from their Problems, like clients use drugs, alcohol, food etc. Also a key component to positive thinking is you’ve got to manifest positive feelings with the thoughts!! So I believe that positive thinking usually doesn’t work for most individuals and can be a waste of time. The reason I say this Is perhaps because most people do not know how to do positive thinking and they don’t have any real guidance on how to use it.
