The Flintstones, A Great Family Costume Idea

The Flintstones programs provide some great ideas for costumes for the whole family. Just the thing for Halloween.

If you’ve grown up with the Flintstones then you’ll know that they are Bedrock’s most famous modern Stone Age family. There’s Fred Flintstone, the father of the family. He works as a dinosaur operator at Slate Rock and Gravel. He’s a larger than life character. He gets into one doomed scheme after another. He loses his temper easily and is a loudmouth. His great love is lounging around his house. Other interests are poker, bowling and pool. Although he is always annoying his wife, he is actually a very caring and loving husband. With his trademark saying “yabba dabba doo” he is a wonderful character to portray.

Wilma is Fred’s long suffering, red-headed wife. Wilma stays at home looking after the house with the aid of interesting prehistoric household items such as an elephant vacuum cleaner and a pelican washing machine. She enjoys shopping and doing charity work with her best friend and neighbour Betty. Fred is always getting into some kind of trouble with his schemes and, of course, his wife has to rescue him.

Then there is Fred and Wilma’s only child, a daughter called Pebbles. Her best friend as a child is Bamm-Bamm, the adopted son of Barney and Betty. When she grows up into an adult, she eventually marries Bamm-Bamm. Pebbles is such a cute little character, with her red hair like her mother with a bone instead of a bow in her hair.
