Making Changes To Improve One’s Home Explained In Basic
With all of the uncertainty in the housing market our family has decided against selling up and buying a new house. Our family home had been on the market, with a for sale sign up outside the property, for over a year. Despite lowering the selling price on 3 separate occasions there were still no people willing to stump up the cash. As I say enough is enough and we have now therefore decided to stay put and have instead started to make improvements to our existing house – this is to try and make it a much more welcome place to live and we also hope that the changes will make it much easier to sell in the future.
I discussed with my wife our strategy for the home improvements, should we merely do things which were likely to increase the overall value of the property or should we instead just do the changes that we actually wanted to do? We chose the second option. Some of the readers may think that this is a rather crazy and strange choice however we are the people who need to live in the house for what is likely and hopefully going to be for many years to come.
We had some fun with our plans – well at least it was fun in our eyes! We took it in turn to decide on what we wanted to achieve. My wife chose first, she wanted an up to date kitchen fitted. I have to say that this would have also been my first choice however I did not tell her that.
For my first actual choice was to have a couple of new patio doors and I was also going to look at the available front doors as ours was looking some what shabby.
We also updated the bathroom and redecorated the kids bedrooms. We have many more ideas left to implement – I first of all need to earn the money to pay for it all lol.
