Colored Skinny Jeans, The “Forever” Pants

I REMEMBER THE VERY FIRST TIME I LAID MY EYES ON  COLORED SKINNY JEANS. It was then during the birthday party celebration of my youngest niece. I saw my cousin, then sporting a colored skinny jeans. This is the beginning of these kind of jeans. I didn’t think highly of it. In fact I hated colored skinny jeans. Since my cousin is a few years my junior, I thought it’s just a misguided fad of the youth. I would not get caught dead, wearing that kind of jeans. As I told my cousin all about this, she just laugh it off. She said I’m just being old-fashioned. She said that she is very sure I’ll be wearing colored skinny jeans shortly. Fat chance, I told her. No way, I told myself, not in my lifetime. I can’t imagine myself doing that. I wondered why somebody would go to all that trouble wearing colored skinny jeans, when it doesn’t even remotely look fashionable to me. I find it totally unattractive.I still prefer the wide, bell-bottomed pants. I like the way it covers my shoes nicely. It will not last long. It’s just something that will pass away unnoticed. An insignificant history in fashion. I’m sure of it.

Twenty years after, colored skinny jeans are still here – to stay. A lot of changes in style but colored skinny jeans are still here. It’s an everyday wear for everybody. It has brought down the wall between generations. It’s unimaginable before, but colored skinny jeans have even crossed gender difference. It is not a rarity today to see elder people – man or woman –wearing colored skinny jeans. Everybody is wearing it, it has transformed into an everyday wear. Colored skinny jeans are the clothes of today. You can wear it everyday and anywhere. You can wear it in hiking or adventure trips. You can choose to wear it in formal occasions. Colored skinny jeans comes in a variety of styles and colors, you can wear it everytime and everyday.

Me? With regards to my comments and predictions? I had a hard time living it down. They were right all along. I’m just plain feeling old then. It just seemed to me that I am being left behind. It has never entered my mind that colored skinny jeans will become the practical clothes of the new era. What, me wearing colored skinny jeans? That is no more a question. I am wearing colored skinny jeans, and that is an understatement! As a matter of fact, my wardrobe is full of colored skinny jeans.
