Well Engineered Nerf Gun!

initial things first, if you’re reading this with anticipation of purchasing this gun, look at this item (with the 40 bonus darts) along with the set without the bonus darts (Nerf N-Strike Stampede ECS). i had been lucky, in that they were the exact same price, and therefore bought this just one. If the set without the bonus darts cost less, you’ll have to make that assessment of which one to buy. Keep in thoughts that 40 darts cost about 8-10 us dollars.

Okay, on to the real look at.

This gun is amazingly fun. it is equally amazingly well designed and constructed. an overview of innovations:

  1. From a safety view, there’s a on/off switch (looks considerably like a single/auto fire on numerous machine guns), as well as not one but two other safety fire controls: 1) It won’t fire without an ammo clip it is in place. 2) It won’t fire when this un-jam slide cover isn’t closed.
  2. The a lot of hold positions (main grip, barrel hold, long top grip, and bipod/grip) produce holding this gun easy, and the planning of the main grip balances the particular heavy battery decently.
  3. The 18 round clips are not hard to load, and haven’t jammed but in about an hour’s play.
  4. The bipod/grip links easily and sturdily, and the bipod deploy button is easily triggered in your thumb.
  5. The gun has a clear plastic panel around the right side of the gun, which allows you to see the machine operate as this spits out nerf bullets.
  6. The included blast shield secures easily onto the barrel belonging to the gun.
  7. Numerous attachment points, 5 plainly remember.

As great as this marker is, a few areas of improvement exist.

  1. Blast shield slips off a bit too easily, just incidental bumping may dislodge it.
  2. The blast shield blocks the goal hole (not a real scope).
  3. Nerf would not sell spare 18 round clips or the 35 round barrel separately, what you have is it.
  4. No way the spare clips can be attached to the mount points.

Gun is heavy however is not too heavy, even my 9 year old daughter been able to hold and fire it effortlessly. Good aim, decent distance. The improve the look of darts sting very slightly. Gun fires about 1 every second, with about a half to you second delay from trigger pull to shoot (as instead of pressure operated Nerfs like the Rapidfire 20, which have no delay). So indeed, if you need to unload 16 rounds ASAP, the Rapidfire 20 (which is definitely my second favorite Nerf) will earn out, since that sucker fires during about 3 per second when fully pumped, but in an extended Nerf conflict, the Nerf N-Strike Stampede ECS, which comes with 3 18-round clips, comes out ahead.

general, highly recommended. We have a little over the dozen nerfs, and this one definitely is the best one to date!

hey, Nerf/Hasbro. Can you work with SuperSoaker? I’ve been waiting quite a long time for a 6D battery operated SuperSoaker for a while now!

[UPDATE 11/02/2010: As stated within a comment posted by me, if you enjoy this gun, it's even better which has a 35 round drum magazine! The merely problem is, the only way to currently find the drum is by buying the Nerf Rapidfire CS-35 (Nerf N-Strike Raider super fast Fire CS-35 Dart Blaster). I ordered one, just to try it while using 35 round drum (it works very well! ) but would prefer to get hold of a few more spare drums. Hopefully Nerf will probably relent and sell the drums individually, or at least the 18 round clips separately (only place i know that has the 18 circular clip is via this Stampede, although i do think there also exists an 18 around drum). ].
