Flight To Freedom On A Friday

The stock market was closing for the week. Our word for the day was just about done. This was one of the last Fridays in late summer where you could still enjoy the outdoors. It was casual Fridays and I was dressed accordingly. I wore the typical blue blazer, oxford shirt, khaki pants combo. My shoes were a bit more stylish. I was wearing ankle high calfskin leather brown boots. I got on the phone to verify my agenda for later in the evening.

No sooner was I done with my phone calls, my computer alerted me to an email. It was from the head of our trading desk. He was looking for some data regarding a few trades from earlier in the day. This was not something I wanted to deal with at this point. However, after checking my black sport watch I realized I had more than enough time to complete the task. I reviewed the transactions and compiled the relevant data.

I sent the email and leaped out of my chair heading to the restroom. It was my last stop before heading out for the evening. I went to the elevator bank and by now the volume of departing people had begun to decline. I entered the lobby which was only occupied by two security guards. My phone beeped. I pulled it out to see I had received a text message. It was my friend. He texted to say he was running behind. Our destination was new club downtown. The travel time was at least twenty minutes by taxi.

I had three choices: walk, cab it, or ride the subway. Each one had its plusses and minuses. It was a very pleasant day except for the elevated level of humidity. This would make me a bit less than presentable upon arrival if I were to walk the entire distance. Also, at this time of day finding an available taxi would be a nightmare. Subway was a viable option, however, the rush hour crowds would also be unbearable. I decided to continue on foot for the time being until I came upon a cab.

After walking about five or so blocks I say a nice watering hole on the side. I figured I might as begin my night here with a nice cold beer. As I walk into the establishment I notice a bar on the left and a row of seats on the right. I noticed a statuesque blonde in tight skinny jeans that hugged her curves delightfully. She was making her way to the rear where the restrooms were located.

I approached the bar and sat down in relief. The bartender was another beautiful sight she had on a low cut tight black tank top with black tights. She asked what I would like and I replied, with a smile, a nice cold beer. She returned the smile and turned to get a pint glass. I was willing to accept anything on tap. She poured slowly while noticing another customer walk through the door.

I was too busy soaking in the cool, dry air and the anticipating the cold draft flowing through my mouth to notice that the person who had walked in was my buddy. Clearly, he had gone through the same thought process and ended up in the same spot. He tapped my shoulder and I turned and gave him an acknowledging smile. He sat down and we began discussing our plans.
